About Us
The Bayou Writers’ Group was founded by author Pamela S. Thibodeaux and pre-published writer Randy Dupre’. While their intention during the summer of 2002 was to bring together writers of every level, to educate, encourage and inspire, they also wanted to dispel the loneliness, to connect with others who have a love for books and the written word.
Thanks to Pam and Randy, on the first Saturday of each month a variety of writers—published and unpublished—congregate to share their work and encourage each other. Meetings consist of a short business discussion, critiques, professional guest speakers, writing prompts, contests and studying the ever-changing publishing market. After each meeting, members adjourn to a local cafeteria to continue encouraging and networking.
Our annual one-day conference—A Bridge to Publication—is held each November with professional authors, agents, editors and publishers in attendance. We host an “On The Wall” contest for attendees. Check our sites for information.
Visitors are always welcome to attend BWG. Meetings are held the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 to 12:00 at Carnegie Memorial Library, 411 Pujo Street, Lake Charles, LA. Dues are $20.00 per year. For more information, email the group or visit the Contact page.
